Hafencity Hamburg - Website
The city on the water

HafenCity Hamburg is one of Europe's most important urban development projects. It's a new urban district shaped by architecture, public space, sustainability, mobility, culture and life on the waterfront.
We came up with the concept and design for the official HafenCity website. The job was to take the scale and complexity of this long-term city-wide project and turn it into a digital platform that's clear, easy to use and looks good.
The website has a broad reach, catering to a diverse audience including residents, visitors, media, investors, planners, institutions and those interested in Hamburg's future. Our concept covers a wide range of topics, from quarters, buildings and infrastructure to sustainability, events, news, publications and visitor information.
The project is based around a modular structure that allows content to be presented in different depths: quick facts, editorial stories, project pages, maps, downloads and current updates. This makes the website easy to use for day-to-day communication and for keeping track of HafenCity's development over time.
The design is all about calm and space. Big images, clear writing, roomy layouts and not many interface elements let the urban space itself shine. The end result is a modern digital presence that reflects the architectural quality, openness and future-oriented character of HafenCity.
DIU Digital did the technical bit for NEOS.
