A brochure for the city of tomorrow

Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld is turning into one of Hamburg's most ambitious future districts, combining science, research, innovation, housing, and everyday urban life.
One important part of this change is the Quartiere am Volkspark, a new neighborhood planned along the Altonaer Volkspark. It'll have housing, university facilities, schools, childcare, sports, green spaces, and local infrastructure.
To find the best urban concept, Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld GmbH held a competitive dialogue with international planning teams. Our job is to take the results of this complex process and turn them into a brochure that feels clear, smart, and easy to read.

Content that's a bit tricky but presented in a way that's easy to understand, and the design is straightforward.
The new publication "Quartiere am Volkspark – Dokumentation des Wettbewerblichen Dialogs" documents the whole process: the project background, the planning goals, the public participation, all the submitted concepts, and the winning design by Cobe A/S.
The design follows the Science City corporate identity and translates it into a calm editorial system: strong chapter openers, clear typography, generous image layouts, maps, and visual structure.
It's got enough detail for experts, but not so much that it's overwhelming. It's simple enough for everyone else.
Hey, check out our planning!
The brochure shows an important step in the development of the Quartiere am Volkspark — a future district designed for living, learning, working and research.
For us, it was about more than just documenting results. The goal was to make urban transformation easier to understand.
When we're planning the city of tomorrow, good design helps everyone understand the vision.
