Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld

A visual identity in motion

Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld is one of Hamburg's most forward-looking urban developments. It's a place where science, research, education, business, housing and leisure come together within a shared vision for the future. From the beginning, the goal was to create an identity that could visually represent the complexity and evolve with it.


Back in 2021, we came up with the original corporate design for the project. It's a flexible and distinctive system designed to express openness, transformation, and connection. The logo was the foundation, with a balanced font concept and a clear, modern color palette to match. We came up with the idea to use the identity as a framework, not a fixed image. That way, it'd be precise enough to create recognition, but adaptable enough to grow alongside the project.


In 2025, we took another look at our corporate design to make sure it was meeting current needs. We sharpened and simplified the system, expanded the color palette, updated the typography with a free Google Font solution, and established clearer rules for contemporary applications. These changes made it more usable and consistent, but still kept the original identity's look and feel.


The result is a brand that has evolved with intention. The visual identity for Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld has been carefully developed over time — from its original conception to its refinement — reflecting the ongoing growth of the project itself.

The design for Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld shows how a clear visual identity can work consistently across many touchpoints. From reports, stationery, and business cards to event badges, posters, and large-scale signage, the system creates a recognisable presence that feels modern, flexible, and confident. A distinctive palette, strong typography, and circular graphic elements connect every application, allowing the brand to appear professional, approachable, and instantly identifiable in both editorial and public spaces.
