A digital platform for Hamburg’s new waterfront district

Grasbrook is one of Hamburg's major urban development projects. It's a new green district on the waterfront, located between the inner city, the port and Veddel.

For the Grasbrook website, we built a custom WordPress platform that brings together all the different parts of this long-term project, from the urban vision and planning principles to public participation, competitions, news, events and publications.

The idea behind the website was to make complex urban development topics clear, accessible and easy to update. The site's modular structure lets the editorial team publish new content independently, while keeping the site's overall appearance consistent and easy to navigate.

Clear information architecture, calm layouts and strong visual content help users understand the project at different levels: as a future neighbourhood, as a planning process and as an important part of Hamburg's urban transformation.

The end result is a digital platform that can be scaled up or down as needed, and which supports transparent communication, public dialogue and long-term editorial use. It will grow with Grasbrook as the district continues to take shape.
